God's View of Success
As published in our October 16th bulletin
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death” (Pr 12:15, 16:25). “All a man's ways seem right to him, but the LORD weighs the heart” (Pr 21:2).
God wants his people to be wise and to make decisions accordingly. When we choose God’s way, he grants us wisdom. His word, the Bible, teaches us to live rightly, have right relationships, and make right decisions
“A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold” (Pr 22:1).
Although people work very hard for money and fame, God views success as having a good reputation, moral character, and the spiritual devotion to obey him. A successful relationship with God counts for eternity. Everything else is perishable. All our resources, time, and talents come from God. We should strive to use them wisely. We will be exploring ways to make the best use of our resources (God’s resources) in the coming weeks. “Humility and the fear of the Lord bring wealth and honor and life” (Pr 22:4).
Please join us on Sunday morning for the study of Proverbs and other great classes; check the front page of your bulletin for a listing.
