The Navajo Nation
The name Navajo is not so much a name as a place. The Navajo refer to themselves as Dine (Den-ah), which means "the people". Their vast land is called Dinetah. The Navajo are the largest tribe in the United States, numbering in excess of 250,000 members. They occupy part of the Southwest spreading across parts of Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Utah. The lands of the Navajo encompass an area larger than the states of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and New Jersey combined!
Tuba City (pop. 8,225) was established in 1877 and is the largest town in the western part of the reservation.

The work in Tuba City
Churches of Christ have had a presence on the reservation for more than 40 years. The work in Tuba City began about 1975. The Ghees joined the work there in October 1987. For many years the congregation met in a mobile home. They moved into their current facility in 2003. From that small beginning in 1975, the congregation has grown to include approximately 50 Christians today. From this work, an outreach ministry has begun in Burnt Corn, AZ, a community approximately 125 southeast of Tuba City. Currently about 25 Christians are meeting in Burnt Corn.
Personal Information:
Ann and Paul have known each other since childhood. They brought their family to Tuba City after Paul completed his studies at White's Ferry Road School of Preaching in West Monroe, Louisiana. They raised their two daughters in Tuba City, and are the proud grandparents of three grandchildren.
Summer Intern Program
The purpose of our summer intern program is to be extra hands and feet for the missionaries in Tuba City. In so doing, we want to accomplish the following goals:
Experience life-changing spiritual growth. Learn how to pray in a new way. Learn what it means to be a missionary. Return home with something tangible to keep this experience alive in our mind. Become missionaries at home. Become mission-minded adults or full-time missionaries.
In past years, summer interns have helped by hauling and stacking firewood, building decks, painting, clearing brush, pouring concrete, and many other projects done in the name of Christ to spread goodwill in the community.
How will your service in Tuba City make a difference in someone's life?
